First up is the drummer, Matthew Byas aka "MaffYuu." We discussed his start in music at a young age, the family legacy he's trying to keep going, the influence of Brooklyn, and more. This is the third installment of Phony Week, an entire seven day spurt dedicated to the up and coming talented group from Brooklyn by the name of Phony Ppl. EPISODE 1: PHONY PPL - (pt. 1) EPISODE 2: PHONY PPL - (pt. 2) Here's part two of my conversation with Phony Ppl! More coverage is on the way for Phony Week each day. Enjoy! There's something happening in Brooklyn. Something big. A group of nine talented teenagers have formed to create a powerful band by the name of Phony Ppl. Their music, however, is anything but phony. The melodic, classic, and beautiful sounds coming out of the Bedstuy Basement of the Casa De La Phony are all too real. With a diverse, eclectic set of songs and special ability that's already landed the group on BBC Radio in England, there's no telling how far they'll go. I sat down with five of the nine members (Matthew, Dymez, Bari, Elijah, and PJ) to talk about the various topics pertaining to the group. This is only part one of Phony Week so press play, enjoy, and stay tuned for more! Here is part two of the video from the last post. Shot entirely on the iPhone as well, I chose the title/song "accept the new" because I feel people should embrace technology and explore what it can do. Press play and enjoy! The iPhone is an incredible piece of technology. I'm not going to start listing all the amazing capabilities it has, but I did want this post to showcase how good the phone is at recording video. With the help of my trusty 8mm app, this video came to life one rainy night while I was roaming the city with my friend Phil. There was no set plan for the video, it was just to experiment to see what the iPhone could do. I'm pretty happy with the result and I hope you are too. Press play, enjoy, and keep an eye out for more! Here's part two of my conversation with Ebenezer Cofie, otherwise known as Frostbyte. In this episode we discuss city inspiration, Kendrick Lamar + Frank Ocean, the beat process, and more. Press play and enjoy! This is the seventh episode of a series entitled 'Universal Language Originators.' The idea behind the series is that regardless of where you go in the world, there is no denying the impact that music has. It's basically a universal language. EPISODE 1: PHIL ADE EPISODE 2: THEO MARTINS EPISODE 3: ERICK ARC ELLIOTT EPISODE 4: DONDRE GREEN EPISODE 5: MIKE LIGHTS EPISODE 6: KARDI EPISODE 7: ERIN CHRISTINE EPISODE 8: EBENEZER COFIE (FROSTBYTE) - PART 1 |
